Colorful Cards, Big Smiles, and a Whole Lot of Love

Sometimes, the smallest gestures create the biggest ripples – and at Plibrico, our team recently proved that a little creativity and a lot of heart can go a long way.

In a company-wide initiative filled with markers, glue sticks, stickers, and laughter, Plibrico employees rolled up their sleeves and got crafty – all for a cause that’s close to our hearts. Team members across the country took time out of their day to design and decorate cheerful, handwritten cards for Cards for Hospitalized Kids, a Chicago-based nonprofit delivering hope and happiness to children facing medical challenges.

These weren’t your ordinary cards. Each one was bursting with color, encouragement, silly doodles, and messages like “You’ve got this!”, “You’re amazing!”, and “Sending a big Plibrico bear hug your way!” From heartfelt drawings to sparkly embellishments, every card was a small masterpiece made with one goal: to spark a smile on a child’s face.

“We wanted each card to feel like a warm hug,” said Pamela Gaul, Director of Marketing at Plibrico. “Even though we can’t be there in person, we hope our words and artwork bring a little joy and strength to a child going through a tough time.”

Since its founding, Cards for Hospitalized Kids has delivered over half a million handmade cards to pediatric patients across all 50 states. These cards have the power to brighten hospital rooms, break through feelings of loneliness, and remind children that they are not alone.

But the joy wasn’t one-sided. “Watching our team come together, laughing and sharing stories as they made these cards, was heartwarming,” added Gaul. “It reminded us of the power we have to make a positive impact – not just in our industry, but in our communities.”

At Plibrico, making refractories may be our business, but building connections, spreading kindness, and lifting spirits? That’s part of our purpose.

Because sometimes, all it takes is a little construction paper and a lot of heart to make the world feel just a bit brighter.
