Best Applications:  Engineered for aluminum melting or processing applications that require a non-wetting, very high temperature, light-weight back-up insulating component.   Typical aluminum applications include:

4. Transfer ladles, back-up

Product Information: Plicast® Al-Tuff® LWI® 28 is a very high temperature non-wetting insulating castable.   A service limit of 2800°F and good strength make it suitable to use as either a backup insulating component in high temperature applications, or as a primary lining material in less severe applications.   Product advantages include:

• 2800°F service limit
• Medium density – ~85 pcf
• Good CCS and hot strength
• Moderately low thermal conductivity
• Good volume stability, positive linear change above 2500°F to its service limit
• Good casting consistency
