Product Information: Plicast® Si-Bond SP 90 is a very high alumina based, cement less castable, modified with a magnesium aluminate spinel addition.   This castable was specifically developed for enhanced resistance to high alkali slags and alkali vapor attacks.   In lab alkali slag cup tests versus more traditional high alumina cement bonded castable both with and without spinel additions, Plicast Si-Bond SP 90 consistently:

• Retained slag
• Resisted alkali bursting – all cement bonded castables routinely burst due alkali absorption

In addition to its outstanding alkali resistance, Plicast Si-Bond SP 90 also exhibits exceptional hot strength up through 2500°F.
