Plibrico Pledge to Upskill Employees Results in Improved Customer Outcomes
Lou Calderon, Plibrico Company Refractory CAD Designer
The Plibrico Company recognizes that employees who are highly trained and on top of changing industry standards will help maintain its strong competitive position within the refractory industry. To that end, Plibrico provides ongoing training and upskilling to all its workforce, whether it means on-the-job coaching, mentoring programs, or individual study.
“Plibrico’s pledge to invest in a range of training programs serves employees from all backgrounds and locations,” said Brad Taylor, President and CEO of the Plibrico Company. “Personal and professional development, as well as growing employee skill sets is imperative for business success in a fast-changing, dynamic economy.”
The most recent beneficiary of this managements perspective is Lou Calderon, Refractory CAD Designer in the company’s Engineering Department in Northbrook, Illinois. Lou is the proud recipient of API 936 Refractory Personnel Certification, having demonstrated advanced knowledge of installation, inspection, testing and repair of monolithic refractory linings. Lou this month passed the rigorous API 936 exam administered by the American Petroleum Institute (API), a national trade association representing all facets of the natural gas and oil industry.
Refractories are widely used in petroleum refining, petrochemicals, and power generation where they play a critical role in ensuring the base metals in processing equipment are protected. Plibrico employees with API 936 Refractory Personnel Certification confront the challenges of installing refractories in these applications from a position of strength, adding value to the process and maximizing the customer’s return on investment. They are uniquely qualified with in-depth knowledge of API’s defined installation procedures and acceptance criteria regarding the materials, equipment and inspection needed to achieve superior outcomes.
