Product Information

Plicast® Al-Shield™ GHC 7 KK is a 70% alumina, low cement castable, with a mullite aggregate and high mullite matrix.   This product possess excellent aluminum resistance and improved thermal cycling performance due to the incorporation of a high temperature aluminum resistant additive system.   Originally developed as a greater crack resistant material for division walls in demanding recycling furnace applications, it has proven to be a great cost effective upgrade for many furnace applications needing stronger properties than Plicast Al-Tuff 3100 Special.   Plicast Al-Shield GHC 7 KK product enhancements and advantages include:

  • Good aluminum reaction/wetting resistance to 2000°F
  • Relatively high, constant hot MOR from 1500°F to 2000°F as compared to other aluminum contact castables
  • Good abrasion resistance
  • Improved thermal cycling and crack resistance

Plicast Al-Shield GHC 7 KK has excellent installation characteristics and may be cast, vibration cast or pumped – there is also a shotcrete version available.

Product Information

Plicast® Al-Shield™ 3223 C KK is the coarse aggregate version of Plicast Al-Shield 2765 KK.   This low cement, aluminum resistant castable, utilizes a super coarse bauxite aggregate with the same modified matrix and high temperature aluminum resistant additive system as its non-coarse brother, 2765 KK.   While maintaining the great physical characteristics as 2765 KK,  the coarse aggregate improves upon impact and cracking resistance.   Plicast Al-Shield 3223 C KK advantages include:

  • Good aluminum reaction/wetting resistance to 2000°F
  • High hot MOR from 1500° to 2000°F
  • Excellent hot fracture, wear and impact resistance
  • Improved thermal cycling resistance

Product Information

Plicast Al-Shield 2765 KK is a 56% alumina low cement castable with a modified matrix incorporating a high temperature aluminum resistant additive system.   This product was originally developed to meet a large aluminum fabricators specification.   During development, the product was found to not only meet the aluminum contact resistance requirements at elevated temperatures, but also to have other physical characteristic advantages.   Plicast Al-Shield 2765 KK product advantages include:

  • Good aluminum reaction/wetting resistance to 2000°F
  • Relatively high, constant hot MOR from 1500° to 2000°F as compared to other aluminum contact castables
  • Excellent hot fracture, wear and impact resistance
  • Improved thermal cycling resistance

These characteristics have led Plicast Al-Shield 2765 KK to be a “standard go to product” in many areas of Plibrico designed/specified aluminum furnaces and systems.
